Purchase a licence
We hope that after using your free trial copy of Rainbow Pro (Rainbow Analyst Professional) or Rainbow Governance you will decide to purchase a licence and continue using Rainbow. You can purchase an individual licence for 1 to 9 users for either Rainbow Pro or Rainbow Governance. Or if your organisation will have 10 or more people using Rainbow Pro, you can purchase a corporate site licence (see Corporate licensing section below; note this option is not currently available for Rainbow Governance).
On our Products page you can purchase all types of individual licence securely using a debit or credit card or a PayPal account. If you have any problems with the payment process, please contact us for alternative methods of payment.
After you have purchased your licence, you will receive an automatic acknowledgement by email, and then (usually within half a day of receiving your order) we will email you the appropriate licence key, linked to your name and email. You can then install your licence simply by clicking About Rainbow (under the User Guide menu on the Rainbow tab) and entering your name and email address, and your licence key exactly as supplied to you. This will convert your copy of Rainbow from a free trial copy to a fully licensed copy.

Different types of licence
All our licences are “per user” rather than “per machine”. So if (for instance) you have both a laptop and a desktop computer, you can install your licensed copy of Rainbow on both machines for your own use.
And all our licences are now “perpetual”, in other words they allow you continue using the same version of Rainbow for as long as you wish. In addition, all licences include free technical support and product updates for either one year or two years. At the end of this period you can still continue using Rainbow, but without any further support or updates, or you can purchase an additional (update) licence to continue with support and updates.
The range of licences on our Products page covers not only different periods of support and updates, but also different types of use:
- A Business licence entitles you to use Rainbow Pro to develop and review your own spreadsheet models, but not to provide a service developing or reviewing models for others.
- A Finance licence allows you to use Rainbow Pro to develop and review your own spreadsheet models, and it also entitles you to provide a service developing and/or reviewing models for others.
We do not attempt to check on your use of Rainbow Pro, but we rely on your good faith to purchase the appropriate licence for your intended use. And if your use of Rainbow changes from Business to Finance, just let us know and we will arrange to supply you with an upgraded licence.
If you are looking to deploy Rainbow Pro in an office with 10 or more users, then it will be cost-effective for you to purchase a corporate site licence, costing 10 times the price of a single individual licence. Generally this covers all users at a single corporate site, but of course if you have (for instance) 16 users spread across four offices, we would only charge for a single site licence. And conversely if you have (for instance) 200 users all based in your main office, this would require more than one site licence. In any case please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
Normally we will deliver to you a version of Rainbow Pro customised with your company name and contact email, so that when your users first use Rainbow Pro they will only need to enter your corporate licence key. Or for large-scale automated deployment we can advise your IT department as to which registry keys need to be set so that your users do not even need to enter the licence key, and we can also supply a customised installer file for this purpose. And if required, Rainbow Pro can be installed in the general XLSTART folder to be available to all users on each machine. Again please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
You can purchase a corporate site licence via our Products page; simply click the “Site licences” product category near the top right of the page to see a list of all our site licence products. And we can also send you an invoice for payment by bank transfer, or a formal receipt for your payment on our website.
Installing your licence
To set up your fully licensed copy of Rainbow, you will first need to have a free trial copy installed. Please see our Installation page for details of how to download and install your free trial copy.
As explained above, you will also need your licence key, which is linked to your name and email address, and also the type of licence you have purchased. If you have not yet received your licence key, please contact us at the email address below or via the details on our Contact page.
You can now install your licence very simply, by clicking About Rainbow (under the User Guide menu on the Rainbow tab) and entering your name and email address, and your licence key exactly as supplied to you. This will convert your copy of Rainbow from a free trial copy to a fully licensed copy.

When you purchase a licence for Rainbow, what you get from us is simply a licence key; we don’t ship a physical product that you can send back to us if you’re not satisfied with it. This is why we don’t make refunds; because it would be very easy for someone to claim a refund and then just continue to use the licence key. And the reality is that none of our customers has ever even enquired about a refund.
Of course you will have had a good opportunity to test Rainbow for yourself during the 30-day free trial period.
